"Handles who hold one another"

Each print 29.7 x 42 cm

9 paper photocopies

2016

"Inspired by the theory of Object Oriented Ontology, in this work I explore an imaginative interaction between handles. The drawings made in the style of a blueprint, give information on the overlap, the largest inside gap, and touching surface area of the handles. The positions of the handles look to be tender and intimate, as if they are bodies themselves, or forming some kind of symbolic language. The seemingly scientific and measured nature of the designs encourages the viewer to question how and if and how these handles have been given agency"

In the studio with Harriet Feest:

"My work is born from a need to explore colour. Colour surrounds us day and night yet there is such an asymmetry between what we can see and what we can say. I investigate the immersive and embodied experience of the perception of colour. Working with colour to represent the intangible, I attempt to make colour a physical presence in a space. By considering human perception as a layered embodied experience it allows me to explore themes such as rhythm, interaction and light"

FEEST

Collaboration with two of our students: Charly Morgan Ivey and Poppy Riddell.

Both are process based artists, working in latex, bodily materials and installation. The artists ask us to consider the notion of the bodily form, as well as showing a heightened sensitivity in what it means to touch and smell, creating works that conjure the full sensory experience.
